Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
trust
My dad just died and my stepmom is the trustee of their trust. She is not letting us children read it ...Do we have a right to read our dad's trust after he passed?

Re: trust
If you are a beneficiary of the trust, you definitely should receive a copy of it. If you are not a beneficiary but instead someone who might have a claim to the trust, such as a forgotten child, you most likely have a right to a copy of the trust as well.
I would ask you, how long ago did your father pass away? If your step mother is correctly administering the trust then you will most likely receive a copy with a month or so. If you feel like you might have a claim against the estate which your step mother is denying, you should speak to an attorney ASAP.

Re: trust
You have the right to see the parts of the trust that are irrevocable pursuant to Probate Code section 16060, et seq. My strong advice is that you seek an attorney who can become familiar with the facts and provide reliable assistance to you.
