Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

trust

My dad just passed away and he and my stepmom had a living trust. My stepmom is trustee and she will not let any of us kids see the trust. Do we have a right to see the trust after our dad dies?

Re: trust

You may also be able to convince her by somewhat of an end run. If your father left a Will, you can demand to see that to see if any of his children are heirs; she may not show that to you either, but you can tell her that you will have to file to probate the Will to avoid tax penalties and problems and that unless she can show what is in the Trust everything must be included in his estate, so she is going to have to show you the Trust document sooner or later. Also, ask her why she will not show you the Trust, pointing out that you allloved your dad and want to know what arrangements he has made.
