Unpaid Medical Debt When Family Member Dies

Is the family legally responsible for paying the medical debt(bills) of a family member that passed away when there is no will or estate only life insurance money with a family member as an assigned beneficiary?

Not unless someone else signed an agreement to pay the medical costs. You should file a probate to formally discharge the liability.
