Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My wife and I had an attorney produce health care and durable power of attorney documents giving our unmarried daughter authority to act for us. She has since married and changed her last name. She has a certificate of marriage. Does this impact the powers of attorney? Are the powers of attorney still legal? All of us live in California. PAT's were produced and recorded during April 2000 in Orange County, California.

If she can prove she is the same person to the satisfaction of the title agent, there is no problem. But why take the chance the title agrent will be uncooperative? Why not execute new documents with the new name?
