Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My wife passed away on 2009 & I found out later an old family trust had be settled. See that my late wife's parent were gone as well, that left their 3 daughter to receive money. The trust was in Hawaii & we all love I'm California. I was told I would revive my late wife's portion because I was her next of Kin. Now over 4 years later the final payment was revived & I was recently told that the was a statute of limitation in California of 3 years & now I should be returning the money to my late wife's sisters. I need to know if this is correct & I am obligated to return the funds sent to me through the Hawaii trust. Thank you for any advice & information you can give me.

You are advised to seek the services of a probate/trust litigation attorney to determine whether Hawaii or California law is to be applied in interpretation of the provisions re the trust distributions.
