My guess is that you still must because the award is for the support of the child; your ex-wife merely administered the money, but it was all for your child. So her death should not effect the obligation you have to the child, who now is even more in need because neither parent is with her/him. Who is taking care of the child now? Your divorce was not caused by the child; you should feel an obligation to take care of the child.
