Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Will of deceased realtive

Recently, a relative of mine passed away. This relative lived in California, and I in another state. The will is being probated sometime this coming week, and unfortunately there has been no real information regarding this matter given to the heirs. I have been trying to get probate notes from the Los Angelos County Superior Court web site, yet when I type in the case number it comes back as no records found. This case number comes directly from any correspondence I've received from the attorneys handling the case. They want a thirteen digit number, and all I have is an eight digit. Is there something I am missing? Also, the deceased was in a nursing home, yet still owned her previous permanent residence, so would the nursing home address be the court which would handle the probate or would the previous residence be the county? I would appreciate any information, for the estate is rather large, and my understanding of the probate process is limited. Thank you.

If the probate is in LA County, the case number will be eight digits. The website you are talking about, though, will have only the "probate notes" regarding the next upcoming hearing, and will not contain the file documents. An attorney or attorney service can get a copy of the file for you if the attorney handling this probate will not send you copies.

Not all records are online. Any attorney can have his attorney service get you a copy of the court file.
