Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

will

My father passed away in December and we have a copy of his will made in 1978, but the original was with the attorneys office which is no longer in the town and I need to know how to find out where the papers would have gone to if the attorney is no longer alive or where he is located? Is there someone I can contact?

Re: will

I believe there is a service through the state bar to deal with wills written by deceased attorneys. You might contact the state bar to check. You also might contact a few estate planning and probate attorneys in the city where the former attorney worked. Sometimes there is information about who took over a practice or something. Lastly, a lot of times we can get a photo copy admitted as the valid will. If you are looking to employ an attorney who is a certified specialist in probate, trust and estate planning then call me please! My main office is in Sacramento but I do probates throughout California. It's very easy to "appear" in any Court by CourtCall! Call me to discuss your case. -John
