Certain Social Security benefits have asset or income limitations that can affect eligibility. For example, an individual can only have $2,000 in non-exempt assets. Thus, an inheritance could affect eligibility if it causes an individual to ahve more than the allowable amount of non-exempt assets. If the inheritance is small, then the recipient can sometimes spend down the inheritance and/or purchase exempt assets to avoid disqualification. Without reviewing the specific documents, it is impossible to provide more than general information. You should speak to an attorney who can review the exact types of benefits you receive in order to get a complete answer.
