Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Will reading upon death and more

This is for a friend who has no access to comps. Her husband's father passed away 4 mos ago. His wife (husband's stepmom) has not dispersed items to the surviving children as stated in the last will the family was able to see. She has kept everything for herself. They don't know if the will has been updated since the stepmom has not let them see an updated will, nor has she disclosed the name of her lawyer. She's a CA resident, and the friend and her husband live in WA state. The husband was very well off financially, and they believe she is trying to sell estate items off before returning to Hawaii. I would like to help her out in any way I can. Any information or advice would help out greatly. Please get back to me as soon as you are able. Thank you for your time.

You can get a copy of the will from the probate court.
