Last Will And Testament

I want to know if an attorney is needed to write a last will and testament in california.

I know that as a paralegal I am not allowed to represent any other person in legal matters. This information is solely for me.

There is no legal requirement that you need an attorney to write a will but that only means the client is allowed to write his own. A non atty cannot write a will for another person. However, it is legal for non attorneys to sell form wills or will kits as long as no advice is given.

Using an attorney to write your will in California is certainly recommended, but it is not required by law. As long as the statutory requirements are met, a person can prepare his or her own will.
