Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Wills

My mother is going to live in an assisted living facility, and all of her assets have been distibuted among family members including her home. The only assets she will have would be her IRA account, which I am the beneficiary of. Is a Will necesssary at this point? Wouldn't the account be turned over to me at her death, or will I face legal problems without one?

Thaks for you help
