Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
after almost a yr. of marriage, husband died of cancer. we lived in separate states, married in ca. our assets were created and kept separate. Nothing was comingled.
A trust was created, I know nothing about it, but I am not part of it (choice) step son's are the majoy heirs. their trust attorney told me he wanted to close trust in a year. He said as the wife I may well be liable for medical expenses. Advised me to seek a family attorney. The estate should be at least 2 mil. My questions of the heir in first place to be responsible for debts. What if debts come in atfer trust is closed?
