Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
I'm 66 years old, I have "Longshore and Harbor workers' Compensation" settlement for life paymanet and medical treatment too. Now the insurance company asking to settle the case for lumpsum, my family has a long life(90-95-100) . How much you think i should ask excloding the medical expenses. I need to have an atterney but i would like to have an idea how much the settelement should be.

None of us can answer that with so little information. You need to know how much the medical costs are likely to be, whether you will get treatment paid for in another fashion if you settle [Medicare probably will take a credit against the settlement so they will not provide treatment--at least would not if it were under state law], the total disability benefits you are entitled to,what rate of inflation should able used to calculate the medical benefits and what for the other payments, what your own needs are [if you are going to blow the money on a new sports car or invest it wisely], etc.
