Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I broke my hand, have nerve damage, trigger finger, and the doctor said that i yhave some sort of pain syndrome. It happened Oct 1 2010 in a constuction accident. My employer was notified a few minutes after it occurred. My employer talked me into not filling a WC claim. It got worse a week later... I had surgery and lost sensation in my finger tips. Then 6 weeks later my employer finally filed a WC claim. My employer filled the claim stating that I maid $15 an hour when I make $20. I had to fight hard with the adjuster and insur. investigator for my accual pay rate. I finally got my pay rate right at the beginning of December. I've seen 4 terrible doctors and its taken 4 weeks now to get to see the next doctor. Now im going on month 5 of lost work and still in need of medical treatment and have been fired from the company. This all has been so stressful on my family and I have also now developed real bad digestive problems. Long story short, this has been one of the worst experiences of my life and has changed my life a great deal.

Should I higher an attorney? Buy law shouldn't I be able to choose my own doctors if my employer dose have any doctors provided and has no workers compensation information posted anywere? I need help... I need answers ...I don't know what the next step is nor do I know any of my rights with this.
