Can I claim stress/depression if caused by Supervisor at Work?

August of last year (2004) I was promoted into a sipervisory position. Had my interview and was hired. In October, (2004) my immediate supevisor left me a letter telling me he was going to fail me on probabtion because I lied on my application (not giving him the name of my prior supervisor). I was stunned and sickened by the letter, and was worried about losing my job do to his accusations. When I went back to work, I was not given any assigments or work to do, so I sat for 8 hours doing nothing. My supervisor then told my peers about what was happening, alienating the office. The staff I was supervising did not come to me for information or work. I went to the hospital 3 times for what I thought was a heart attack, but ended up as stress. My doctor placed me on medication and took me off work for a month. I was told that I could not file a claim because it is hard to prove. I have currently been out of work again since May 3rd for the same issue and now it also involves depression. I was again told that I could not file a claim. I am not receieving any pay, and my husband and I are financially strapped due to this. In fact, we are divorcing. Can anyone help me?
