Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
Company-sponsored health ins. while on w/c leave
My employee handbook states that the company considers time off for a work-related injury to be a leave of absence, which allows them to discontinue paying my health insurance for the period I am out. Is this legal? It seems to me that I should not be penalized for getting injured in course of performing my work.

I agree with you. Most employer do not realize it, but technically an injured employee is treated as though they were actually at work. You accumulate normal sick leave, vacation, time in for promotions, etc. They should continue to pay for your health insurance. If you are part of a union, have your representative talk to HR so that o do not appear to be a trouble maker.
