Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

my husband was on his way to his work and park his car at employees parking where he works he rides a tram on his way he saw a fight and the tram driver jump off to help but she didn't park the tram but my husband was still on the tram she did come back after a few seconds and did park and my husband get off the tram and walk a a few steps and trip off and fell so bad but still he manage to go to work but sad to say he can't performed well so he decided to talked to his manager regarding the accident and he even insisted to get to his bank sick leave but the manager insist him to put it to worker's compesation. what will happened to it him.does he has the claim to it? please help us about this it relys our life and our kids because he is the only one working.
