Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
Earning additional income to worker's compensation benefits
My husband has a neck/shoulder work-related injury and has been off work for several months. They had thought of letting him go. After referring him to another doctor, he is going to undergo surgery next week. While he's on work comp, he acquire a real estate license and has and will receive commission on the sell of a house. Is it legal to cash the work comp check? Do we need to report income to work comp? I know we have to file taxes but we need to catch up with bills. This kind of work is not paying consistently. What if he is still unable to return to the job he was doing at the time when he got hurt? Is he entitled to other benefits?
