Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

As a employer I hire a worker and on his own he hires someone to help him and that person gets hurt am I liable for his workers compensation.

An employee normally can not hire another worker without your approval. You need to tell us how he/she could hire someone else. Is the first person really an employee or an independent contractor? Do you have some type of holding company, including LLC, that owns the company, etc.
