Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Employer has no workmans compensation

My employer warned me that when I get injured do not mention the company name and pay for everything out of my own pocket. I had an injury that required stiches and was refused medical treatment, and now have a lump and a scar.

The second time I severed an artery and could not stop the bleeding, so I went to Emergency and had the wound stiched.

How can an employer not cover the workers with insurance?

I have hospital and emergency doctor bills now along with scars and I do not think this is legal or right, or my responsibility.

What can I do to protect myself, and pay those bills?

Re: Employer has no workmans compensation

What your employer did was illegal. They by law must either provide workers compensation insurance, or be certified as self insured. If the injury arose out of your employment, and happened during the course of your employment, they must cover it. I suggest that you get an attorney.
