Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

am i entitled to choose which doctor i wish to be treated by?

if there are no specialists in my local area, what is the number of miles after which i am able to choose whom i am treated by?

I believe the rule still is that unless before the accident you designated a treating health care provider the employer has control over who is selected fro the first thirty days. You need to cal up the carrier as to the mileage, as the law merely used the notion of "reasonable". But if the carrier can not find a specialist within a certain area, are you going to have much better luck?
