Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Being fired while on workers comp.

My husband is currently on WC due to a shoulder injury that occured gradually from the work he does. He is the regional manager and runs one of their shops. During this time off with his shoulder the owners have fired his employee, changed the locks with no notice to him and now a few weeks later have closed the shop. No word to him from his employers as to what they plan on doing with him-jobwise. My question is this: Now that they have closed the shop, taking away the position does he still have rights as an employee with this company? May i also add that he was not originally located in this city-his employers asked him to move here to run this shop. Since he was originally hired in that city-has his position really been taken away or is he technically still an employee? Right now he feels he has no rights at all.

Unless he has received a Notice of Termination he is still technically an employee but there may be other issues.
