Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Future Medical

Back injury on 3/22/05. I no longer work for the company and am out of the country doing missionary work for a few more months. I am long since p&s and now am looking to settle future medical so that I can pay for the procedures that ins. will not and invest it for future possabilities of surgery etc... Ins is starting to try to low ball me and I do not know if it is worth getting a lawyer for the differance in $. Do they have to settle with me or can they refuse? Thank you!
