Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

health insurance cancellation by employer

I was recently injured on the job and currently collecting workman's compensation payments. I have been on medical leave for about 6 months and am facing a long recovery period I am told by my many physicians.

I received a notice in the mail a few days ago from my health insurance company stating my employer has discontinued me from the plan and I no longer have any health coverage.

I would like to know if my employer does have a legal right to cancel my health insurance while I am on a work related injury leave and receiving workman's comp. and disability payments.

Nothing has been negotiated or settled as of yet as to legal proceedings.

Thanks.
