Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
Hello,
Thank you for answering my question. I worked at an elementary school in Los Angeles for 2.5 years. During this time, part of my duties was to help oversee recess. After each recess, a bell was rang signaling that recess was over. The bell we used is an old fashion metal bell. I personally rang this bell about 75% of the time. One day, I rang it, and the pitch hit my ears/brain in such a way that the sound reverberated loudly throughout my head. Ever since then, I have had ringing in my ears. I will need treatment to help with the persistent ringing and hissing, and I don't know how much that will cost me. The last Dr. I spoke with said that if did not stop ringing after 3-6 months, there was a really good chance that the tinnitus would be permanent. It has been 8 months, and the sound is louder now than it was when it first happened. Do you think I have a case to pursue? Thank you for your time.

You won't know if you 'have a case' until (1) you submit a claim form and (2) the Qualified Medical Evaluator or the Primary Treating PHysician must write in a report that the tinnitus is the result of sharp noises on the job.
