Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
what is the highest amount you can recieved for a wrongful death at work

It depends upon what the deceased's average weekly wages were, how many dependents, how old they are, etc. So the amounts can vary from about $125,000 to $320,000. Workers' Comp is a no fault system, so there is no "wrongful death". It is simply either work related or is not.
Although Mr. Shers is correct, allow me to add another factor. The final amount received may also depend on how old the youngest minor was on the day of the loss. This figure may exceed $325,000.00.
Sometimes in a death case, there is 3rd party exposure which means that the case may be worth more.
All in all, there are a lot of factors involved in determining the full value of a workers' comp case. I would be glad to discuss all options with you if you contact me at 1.877.505.INJURY.
