Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

My husband is 40% disabeled due to his cancerous tumor on his right hand side of his brain. The doctor from where he works (CAL-FIRE) said no more working as a firefighter. My question is will he never be a firefighter agian? He dosent drive the engine at all.

As long as he does not obtain a medical report saying he can be a firefighter his employer and any other fire agency will not override the medical opinion and put him back to work.
