Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I am currently having major back issues that I am sure are work related. I work as an RN in an ICU. I worked on Monday and when I got home my lower back was quite sore. It continued to be sore tues wends and thursday. I kept ice on it and rested up. Thursday night the pain is so bad I can just about stand up. I called in to work for Friday. Can I go to the dr. and claim this as a workmans comp?
