Re: Medical provider
You can treat outside of their Medical Provider Network if:
1. They did not have a sign posted instructing the employee as to what to do in case of a work-related injury, or
2. They did not set an appoinment for you to see a doctor within 24 hours of notice of your injury, or
3. You must actually have the doctor's appointment within a 72 hour period, meaning that the appointment that was set by your employer within the initial 24 hour period must be for a visit to the doctor within a 72 hour period.
I hope #3 does not confuse you. Anyway, if one or more of those conditions above are not satisfied, then you can properly self-procure medical treatment. Beware, do not go to any doctor. You should try to find a doctor within the comp system. Doctors outside the comp system do not understand what is involved in creating admissible reports.
Good luck. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office for a free consultation.
