Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Modified Duty - California Workers Comp

I fell at work and injured my left knee. The MRI shows partial rupture of ACL, sprain of lateral collateral and medial collateral ligaments, bone marrow edema throughout the proximal tibia. Moderate size joint effusion. I was referred to orthopedic and he referred me to physical therapy. After 6 weeks of physical therapy, I have a much better range of motion in my leg, but am still unable to straighten leg and have considerable pain. I have only seen the orthopedic twice and for 5 minutes each time. He says there is nothing wrong with my knee just think of it as someone took a ''baseball bat to my knee. '' The therapist feels I may have some meniscus injury and recommended to orthopedic a second MRI. Orthopedic has not responded to the therapists recommendations and when I asked the orthopedic how long I could anticipate the pain, he told me it could be six months or could have pain rest of my life. I have been released to go back to work on modified duty and want to know if going back to work will affect my workers comp option of a second opinion.
