Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
on or around october 19th I was loading propane tanks and i slipped. After this slip, i felt a burning sensation in my back. The pain wasnt severed at the time, but over the next week it intenswified. i notified my supervisor who initially didn't take me seriouslyThe following week, the pain was so bad i couldnt work. My supervisor then began a work injury claim. I was taken to a healthcare provide3r to be seen and treated for my injury. After my first visit i was diagnosed with a lumbar strain and presribed ibuprofen and flexoril, however theses did not help to ease the pain, and in fact the pain worsened, My treating provider ordered an MRI, which revealed that i had a bulging disk pinching a nerve in my back. I currently have pending physical thereapy sessions, but just received a call saying that they had been cancelled because the insurance only approved 3. The heathcare provider that my employer referred me to stated that the results of the MRI showed that the condition my back is in, is chronicbut aggravated asa result of the injjury at work. I would like to know what my options are in case i get denied further treaatment.

You need to get out insurance company's medical control on your treatment. This is just the beginning. The insurance company's utilization review dictate how many physical therapy sessions. MRIs (if any) and etc.. That's why I urge you to retain an attorney who will refer you to a doctor outside of MPN who will treat you on lien basis (no bills sent to you). Workers' compensation is a very complicated area of law, and you have many rights. With each step in your case, there is a "right" of sort for the injured worker. Unfortunately most injured workers are not aware of all their rights during the prosecution of their case. More times than not, without a lawyer, they get the short end of the stick.
