Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Paid lower rate

After 15 years I went to work for another company, he agreed to pay me what I was making at my last job. I was injured on the job after the 1st week. He wouldn't file the injury with his comp carrier until forced to. Then withheld my paycheck for weeks. When I finally got my check he paid me a much lower wage so that the work comp payments would be lower. ($6.00 an hour lower) He has refused treatment that the insurance had to overide him on. He made false claims etc. Work Comp told me to take him to the labor board for unpaid wages, which is happening next week. But I'm starting to get confused as to what is relevant in this court & maybe I should get a lawyer? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Paid lower rate

The comp system is complex and it is very difficult for injured workers to handle their own comp claim. Therefore, given the nature of your situation I believe that consulting with counsel should be in line. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
