Can a person who was injured on the job, be fired before being returned to regular duty?

Yes, an injured worker can be fired, California is an "at will" state. However, the reason for the termination can be discriminatory, which means that you may have a cause of action for wrongful termination. It all depends on the circumstances of your termination.
