Do I need to provide workers comp if I own a salon for the independent hair stylists?

If they truly are independent workers, then you cna not insured them for WC. Speak to a couple of WC carriers giving them all the facts and see what their opinion is. There are numerous inexact facts looked at; do you pay them anything, do they pay you for use of the shop, do you control how many hours and what hours they must work, do you have the ability to hire and fire them or merely to tell them that they should leave because they broke the lease terms, do you tell them how to do their work, any taxes withheld from them, etc.
