Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Is my report from my nurse case manager the same as my AME, or is is just an opinion that the lawyers don't have to use in my settlement?

An AME is an agreed medical evaluation which was agreed upon by both parties. The conclusions are usually relied upon by both parties. A nurse case manager report is just a report. Chances are, the AME reviewed (or will be reviewing) the report, along with many other reports, and adopted it to help reach his conclusions.
