Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Do I have to get ''shots'' the Doctor wants?

MRI report came back and it said I had 2-small disc buldges and 2-big ones. Doctor said to continue out P/T and then he would stop it. He said he would request cortizone shots. He said I could go back to ''ligh-duty''. Which is: No lifting over 10lbs, no standing long term, no walking or sitting long term. Bending, etc. Basically, he said to answer phones or continue to be off work. I asked for how long, he said probably for ever. Work said to call adjuster, they couldn't talk to me. Adjuster will call them and adjuster will call me back.

Question? Do I have to do the shots? I would rather not. I have a baby on the way and a mortgage payment. Sounds bad, but, not into the shots in the back. Can I settle the case with the buldge disc(s) and get a good settlement and rehab for a new job? If so, in California, what should I expect to receive for settlement and for school valture? I got paid approx $400 a week and I am 37yrs old. DOI is 10/07. I have done PT since then and Doctor visits. Been on light duty from 10/07-01/08 then recently off work per Doctor until today regarding return to light-duty with restrictions. But, work doesn't sound like they like it.

Thanks

Yes you can settle your case. You don't have to accept any injections if you prefer not to. I recommend that you settle your case after you see either a panel QME or an AME (Agreed medical examiner). If you really want a fast and reasonable settlement, I recommend you retain an experienced attorney. If you need representation, Call us at 213.388.7070. Thanks.
