why a status conference hearing is requeste by an insurer in the workers compensation appeals board, 5 years after the case was closed

probably to close out any unpaid medical billing. a physician has five years from the date of injury, or one year from the last treatment to file a lien. if no lien is filed the carrier can request the court to dismiss the billing. look on the notice to see if you are required to attend. sometimes the notice says "applicant need not attend."
