Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

walked out after unsafe work conditions

I worked for this company for over 4 years.(This is a small 8-10 person company). The owner has been through over 48 different employees over the last 4 years. He enjoys hiring and firing. He has 4 different labor board suits from previous employees with the California Labor Board for unpaid commissions. He has had our medical insurance cancelled many times because of non-payment from employer. He sells items that he claims are correct but they are not and he expects me to sign certs of conformance stating that the items are OK and I will not do that. He has been constantly harassing me and causing me mental abuse. Please advise what I can do and am I at least eligable for unemployment insurance??

Re: walked out after unsafe work conditions

Your letter presents several issues. I will not address them all. The issue of an unsafe working enviroment is usually addressed at the WCAB. However, in some circumstances a civil suit can be filed. Therefore, I recommend that you consult with a firm that specilizes in labor law, as harassment is typically not a Workers Compensation issue unless it generates psychiatric problems.
