Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
My wife works as a Hair/Nail salon commission worker in Ca. The salon gives a 10% discount for cash and 10% discount for coupons and sometimes arbitrarily a discount above all of that for good customers. This is good for business but not for employees when they are forced to share in this cost. They do not pay minimum wage to employees who are asked to spend 12 hours a day and up to 6 days a week waiting for customers. Is any of this legal?

'Commission Worker' is the trouble here... is there a writing defining this agreement? If a writing gives the Salon Management to promote the business by reducing their prices thereby reducing commissions, it is legal. This isn't a Workers compensation question, it is a Labor Law question. On a personal note, I know salon workers who don't get new business because the salon does not promotions, and they wish the salon did 10% promotions to get more income flowing.
