Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Work Comp Liability Release, California

I plan to hire a licensed contractor for (1) days work removing wallpaper. I looked up his license on California State Contractors website. It states he has no work comp insurance since he has no employees. Can I get some sort of release clause to protect myself?

Hire a contractor who has both business liability insurance and comp insurance. You may have to pay more, but it could be worth it.
