Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

work

i have a coworker that doesnt work, the boss pretty much dont care, the company is going bad so they are not buys more stock, i have to work more than i should to get everything out. and in order to save money they are going to transfer the account to another state and lay us off. now ihave a pain of an hernia operation i had 1 year ago. what should i do? go to the doctor? see what it is? and if is bad tell them or what?
