Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I work for a small construction firm which has a single employee who is an on-site job supervisor (all work is contracted out). Is the company required to pay workers compensation on the supervisor's wages?

All employees must be covered by WC! I assume by working for them you mean you are an independent contractor of some sort [bookkeeper?].
