Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I have just begun the claim and my employers workers comp insurance carrier says I need to go to a different doctor for the doctor I chose (He's in their network mind you) can not see me for another week. My question is can I keep this appointment, in a week, with the doctor i have chosen or legally does the insurance carrier have the right to make me see another doctor sooner. I filed the claim on 7/30/08. Thank you.
