Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Workers Comp case and domestic parnership benifits

I recently hurt my back on the job

that I have been employed with for

six weeks. I now have a current

workers comp case. I have never had

one before and worry about the

ramifications this may have on

future employement or medical

benefits. My girlfriend has the ability

to add me on her medical benefits as

a domestic partner. Should I wait

until my workers comp case is

completed or can she add me now so

I will have full medical benifits??

Thank you very much.

Re: Workers Comp case and domestic parnership benifits

Work Comp and health insurance are not related. A worker compensation insuror has the statutory duty to provide all medical care for work-related injuries. A health insurance company has a contractual duty to provide payment for all claims for all injuries. It will not have any effect on future employment or medical benefits. Do what you have to do to get the care you need.
