Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
Workers comp case
I retained an attorney to handle a workers comp case through a referral 5 years ago. Although all medical releases have been realized, and I have been 'permanent and stationary', this attorney has not attempted to close my case in spite of repeated requests. As of Feb of this year (07), 4 requests for a court date have been made, and empty promises by office staff continue to be fruitless. I am considering filing a complaint with the Bar, but want to know if I am contracturally bound to this attorney or can I seek help from another? Thank you.

You can always fire an attorney and go to another one. You do not have to have any reason for the firing. There would be no increase in the attorney fees you would end up paying.
