Legal Question in Workers Comp in California
I have a workers comp claim (California) for the past year. Early on, I sought the advice of a lawyer who reviewed my case and said I didn't really need a lawyer. However, recently the workers comp insurance company is demanding that I have a nurse accompany me to my doctor appointments. I have not allowed her in the room with me and the doctor, but instead make her wait in the waiting room and then we call her in at the end.... but I still do not want to be forced to do this. This seems an infringement on my privacy. The insurance company receives reports from my doctor, isn't that enough? This insurance company is always pulling something to try and get out of continuing my claim, but this just seems so very wrong.
DO I have to allow the nurse to attend my doctor appointments with me?

You have the right to refuse a nurse case manager on your claim. Write a letter to the carrier dismissing her.
You should not be forced to have a nurse case manager. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office at 818.385.0520
