Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Do I need Worker's Compensation for my wife if she is partly employed in my business with a salary of $200.00 per month? We live in California. I was told by an adviser that I would not need to buy such insurance for her since her salary is very low, but I can not find official information to back that up.

Thanks

Imagine for a moment that your wife injures herself while working for you and as a result, you have to take her to the ER. The nurse will ask how your wife became injured, and her only response should be, while working. The nurse will then check the "work injury" box on the paperwork. You submit the form to your Blue Cross carrier and they will deny the claim. Why? Because it was work-related. And then what?

Anyway, I hope that answered your question.

Good luck.
