can my workmans comp pain management dr request my urine for drug testing legally?

Although I am not an expert in this area of law, I know of no law prohibiting a physician from requesting a urine test when prescribing controlled substances. This is common and done so that the physician is assured that you are taking the right dosage of the prescribed medication and/or you are not hoarding the medication for nefarious purposes. If you have a concern, speak with your physician.

I would think that the physician definitely can check as to what medications you are taking as he has to be careful about adverse interactions among drugs.
