That depends upon whta is happening in your case; no good general answer can be given. Certainly if you feel you are not being treated properly or do not understand what benefits you are entitled to and no one will tell you, you are afraid you will be fired, you can not get the insuance adjuster to send you the benefits you are entitled to, etc. But if you get an attorney, you have to be sure that they will actually talk to you and not just sign you up and say they will be in touch. Since the WCAB will not allow attorneys to charge just an hourly fee, even if they are hired only to consult, most attorneys who will speak with you will want to represent you as to the entire WC case so that they will be paid something for their time.
